Veeam uses wrong credentials
Greetings Fellow Spiceheads,
I have an odd issue with Veeam. I've added a new stand up lonely server to our network, and Veeam attempts to back it up, and I get a alarm:
Failed to prepare invitee for hot backup. Details: Failed to connect to guest agent. Errors: 'Cannot connect to the host'south administrative share. Host: [30.thirty.thirty.xxx]. Account: [my.domain\xxxxxx]. Win32 error:Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. Code: 1326 '
I have many stand alone servers successfully backed upwardly by Veeam, those credentials are in credential managing director in Veeam also as the correct credentials for the new VM. I've compared this VM to others that are successful, and come across no departure. I can connect from the Veeam server to the customer'southward admin share with the credentials provided to Veaam credential manager.
Any thoughts from the brain trust hither in SW?
Many Thanks in advance!
Yes, Right click job and edit.
Then go to the Invitee Processing tab, and click Credentials...
And then select the VM y'all added, and cull Set User... then credential type,
From in that location yous can choose credentials already in the credential managing director or add together new credentials. Then OK. At present when you choose the option to Exam Now it will try connections with those VMs with the credentials y'all specified through that menu.

Practise you use Application Aware backup? Are there whatever VMs running special MS applications (like SharePoint, SQL, Exchange, DC, etc.) inside the fill-in job? If there are none, then, it stands to reason to disable Awarding Aware Prototype Processing and see whether information technology helps

Possibly UAC issue? You could check if this DWORD exists:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\ LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy
If information technology does non exists, create it and ready value to 1 and reboot. If it exists, change value to i.

I volition give this a shot. I'm happy to take the issue just go away, but the larger question is why did this happen, I have a handful of stand up alone VM's that support fine using the same method?

Dunno, looks really foreign. Can you try to add together used account to local admins groups on that server and/or reenter credentials to Veeam?

Also if you have multiple servers in the same backup job with different credentials, look at the Chore Properties > Guest Processing > Credentials > Guest OS Credentials to brand certain the correct account credentials are specified for each VM.

Likewise if you take multiple servers in the aforementioned fill-in job with different credentials, look at the Chore Properties > Guest Processing > Credentials > Guest Bone Credentials to make sure the correct account credentials are specified for each VM.
I having difficulties finding the starting signal of your path. Would it fall under Right click on backup job-> edit, and then start the sorcerer? If so, I'm missing the step where I tin assign a VM credentials. I can find the list, 11 in all, and examination "ane" ready of credentials confronting the whole job, simply not an individual VM. I didn't prepare this installation, and am not having an "Uh Oh moment" equally I write this...
Let me know what you recollect.

I had the same issue after creating a new Server 2016 Hyper-V Host. It turned out that when I created a fill-in job it has assigned the Host administrator login to the VMs, which have a different administrator login. Going into Guest Processing > Credentials > Prepare User and assigning a username and password to the individual VMs has fixed this!
